If you want to live dreams, you have to be willing to live some nightmares
Boy, this business is tough. You think you have this audition/interview part down, then BAM!, you are back to square 1. As soon as you become confident in your craft, this biz reminds you real quick to not be too confident. One must remember that when we are not cast, it doesn’t necessarily mean we dropped the ball. Sharon Bialy, one whom I respect highly, once tweeted me “There can be many reasons why you were not cast, usually never having to do with you”.
Remember Where You Came From
Occasionally we come across people that feel that they are entitled; they feel a bit more special than the rest of society. Maybe they were brought up that way, maybe they were changed to think that way. It could be from being surrounded by “YES” people and those who consistently enable them. Maybe it’s from coming from “nothing” and suddenly having “everything”. People seem to justify or explain this attitude by blaming it on the fame and fortune these individuals experience. I believe it goes a bit deeper. Fame and Fortune don’t turn people into bad people, it merely magnifies their character. If they have a generous and giving attitude before, they will be able to demonstrate that attitude on a greater scale afterwards. The opposite is also true.
So, regardless of what you have done, the toys you own, we all need oxygen, we bleed the same color, and our holes in the ground, when we die, will be the same size. Remember where you came from, folks.
